Google reports that there are no active area codes in North America that use the numbers “666.” That’s interesting. Apparently, we have enough Biblical literacy in this country to be aware of the number’s association with evil. 666 is the number of the beast, the number of a man, the number of the antichrist. There has been endless speculation about what the number means and who it might represent. There is no consensus. What we do know is that the antichrist will have a front man that will force people to take the mark of the beast and worship him. Refusal to take the mark will result in persecution, suffering, hunger and death. However, there are at least two places in later chapters of Revelation that reveal the terrible end for those who take the mark and worship the beast. The beast will be a deceiver who will want the glory that belongs to God alone. The beast will be empowered by the devil who is seeking to devour people even today with deception and misguidance. Let’s be found wearing our armor and putting it on with prayer. Let’s walk so closely with the True One that the lies will be easily seen for what they are.
