Is it possible to grow in faith? The words of Jesus to His disciples imply that this is possible. We have Biblical record that He sometimes said to people who believed in Him, “O ye of little faith.” Sometimes He said, “Where is your faith?” One guy said, “I believe, help my unbelief.” Jesus didn’t rebuke him for saying that. What would a growing faith look like? People have been writing about this idea for a long time, and their writings are profitable. Even if we don’t have access to books on the subject, we have plenty of examples in the Bible. Study the faith path of Gideon, Jeremiah or the apostles, especially Peter! This week we plan to examine the growing faith of David. Trusting God is the way to life but we often find it difficult. We tend to think we are sufficient in ourselves to manage our lives. We’ll trust people, ourselves, news anchors and social media influencers but then wonder if the God of the universe really knows what He is doing. An immature faith is better than no faith, but a mature faith is the way to experience life as God intended. Yes, faith can grow, and we can participate in the process, in fact, there is no other way.
