“Worship is a Cure”

Worship is one of our Core Values. Sometimes we refer to Core Values as behaviors. If we live the values, we’ll accomplish our mission of developing followers of Jesus for life. We have summarized Worship as “loving and honoring God through surrender and obedience.” Worship is more than that as the Scripture clearly teaches. Worship recognizes God’s worth through praise, thanksgiving, celebration and submission. Worship is not confined to a place or a time. Worship is to be a lifestyle. Worship is enhanced through reading the Bible, prayer and fellowship. Music helps us express our worship. Our worship must always culminate in obedience, or it falls short of true worship. Worship and service are tightly linked. Someone has said, “We worship what we serve, and we serve what we worship.” Worship is recognition of reality and therefore it is one of the best ways to keep our head and heart headed in the right direction. Worship is also restorative. It is a cure for many things that ail us. We can worship our way out of worry; we can worship our way out of the blues. We can worship our way out of temptation. We can worship in sickness and in health, adversity and prosperity, until death we depart! Worship is also proactive.
